she's a master

this weekend we headed down to Taylor University to see Jess/Aunt Jessie/Lee/Jazz Hands/etc graduate from her masters program.

Didn't we just graduate from undergrad?!

It wouldn't be a trip to tu without seeing this smiling face

Jess' special littles

Jonah and his friend Phoebe

It was a pretty sweet celebration: family, friends, good food, fun memories.
Congratulations, Jess! We're so proud of you!

nederland

It's official. We've got a blue eyed, blonde haired, dutch boy on our hands. Though he was tracking close to Jonah (at birth: 9+ lbs, 4 months: 16+ lbs), he's really pulled ahead here at 6 months. 19 lbs 3 oz (74%) and 28 1/4 in (92%). And his Dr. said, "I think he's going to be a tall one." (I know, as if you can really predict that sort of thing...but today, we'll just go with it).

So in honor of the (little bit, but we pretend more) dutch in him (and me, and jonah...), and the party happening back in orange city, cheers to canals and wooden shoes and tulips and such...

mothersday

it was a beautiful day. I basked in the sun during naptime, and then ventured to the msu campus for a family walk, some pictures of the boys, and a picnic of jimmy johns and five guys.  I'm one blessed mama.

about 10 minutes before bedtime, we decided we should probably get a photo of two boys and their mom. this was the best we could do...

more photos coming soon, but this is one of my favorites of the {many} outtakes...

thursdays

growing up, this title would have been wednesdays. those wednesdays, especially in the summer, when you'd roll over in the morning and hear the weed eater (or just yelling at the bottom of the stairs). these wednesdays, there were no casual mornings of 'matlock' reruns and afternoons spent poolside. nope. it was dad's day off.

pretty sure all three of my siblings just laughed out loud.

and my dad is thinking "it was character building"

(am I wrong on either of those?)

and now that I'm a grown up, and I get to make my own rules, it's become thursdays. because it's ben's day off. and boys? you may like it now, but someday...well, someday? thursdays probably won't be your favorite day of the week.

6 months

already half a year...where does the time go?
starting to sit up (like more than just balance for 10 seconds before falling forward).
still such a happy kiddo.
stats will come in at next weeks dr. appt, but....you're big.
speaking of, you can not shovel food in fast enough.

still a big ol' fan of your brother.
and so help the person that leaves you alone in a room.
good napper. still a little stinker at night.
and you've got a little blankie...a requirement for falling asleep.
we've reached the "everything in the mouth" stage.
and we love when you grab the sides of our heads with your fat little hands an try to eat our faces.

happy 6 months sweet boy!

I've been...pinning.

My desktop is a mess with pictures (most needing some editing), I'm totally behind on updating this here blog (because blogger changed, and now photobucket...), and I'm staying up way too late---trying to find the perfect pillows for my couch (and watching white collar on netflix...ad.dict.ing.).

I'm looking for something a bit rustic yet modern. A way to bring down the formal and add some modern asthetic. You know, like ikat chevron on burlap.

Ehh....close, but not quite....

So, alas, I search. Pinterest, Etsy, the usuals.

But enough about that. Now that we're on to this weekend, I should probably tell you that last weekend was a wonderful whirlwind of family time....see?

added bonuses (besides the quality time with the fam, obviously)? free babysitters for our saturday night wedding and hand-me-down anniversary roses from the happy couple (have you tried transporting a dozen roses back 900 miles?).

oh, and a couple "jonah funnies" from tonight (there are so many more...but I'm a little behind, remember?).

While I'm feeding Thatcher: "Mom, he's fussing! You're not doing it right! That's too much food! Okay...that's better."
Also, Jonah's new favorite thing is eating ice cubes. Jackpot in Jonahworld? When the setting on the fridge's ice machine is on the crushed setting and little pieces end up all over the kitchen. "Here, I will eat that for you...off the floor."

Happy Weekend!
